Moments from Childhood

Through the delicate flowers, lace, and candles I wanted to portray not only childhood and imagination but more personally my childhood and imagination. The candles and 21 beads that hang from the main framework are meant to allow the work to expand behind the constraints of the frame and also represent the imagination of a child- random, innocent, yet expansive and infinitely creative. The 21 beads hanging down representing each year i’ve been on this earth. Mixed media seemed the only way I could successfully capture the essence of my childhood. I focused on the most important and influential parts of my childhood. Things such as my relationship with my siblings, loosing teeth, visiting grandmas house and watching her sew, Long scenic car rides, and picking flowers in the backyard with mom.
