I have always been fascinated with the idea of questioning the relationship between sensibility and art. I was never one to think of things very logically and instead relied almost entirely on my emotional response to the world around me. This frame of mind very much carries over into my creative process and the narratives I wish to depict. My creative process is frantic and impromptu, yet unexpectedly personal and specific. I use materials such as clay, wire, fabric, beads, wax, found objects, and other earthy materials to create mixed media art that suggests an aged, yet timeless presence. I feel the need to listen to the project as it progresses and changes form throughout the fabrication. In my eyes a work is unfinished unless the entirety of the surface has been manipulated or decorated in some way. Curious eyes are something I strive to engage with when displaying my art. I hope to pull the viewer closer, my art urging them to inspect every detail. In many cases, the narratives of my work are determined by the viewer themselves and vary from person to person. I like the idea that the art I create has the ability to become personal not only to me but to those who view it and can relate to it. Throughout my years as an artist, storytelling and character creation and design has become a prominent identifying feature of my work.
